These slabs came all the way from Costa Rica to make a beautiful table top for you!
Parota (aka: Guanacaste) is a relatively fast growing tree that can reach 100ft in height & have a trunk up to 6ft wide.
The lumber is softer than most exotics, making it easier to work with. Parota wood is very durable against rot & water damage, natives are even known to carve canoes out of the logs from this tree.
It glues & finishes well, with dried lumber being very stable with little movement. Like many exotics the dust can be an irritant, so a dust mask is recomended when sanding or cutting.
The pictures you see are from when the slabs were first cut, we will update them with current pictures as we can. All of the slabs have been kiln dried, any large cracks have been filled with an epoxy-resin
and the entire slab has been sanded. All that is required is a final sanding before coating with your choice of finish and of course a base!.
