Welcome to CAG Lumber

CAG LumberCAG Lumber has been a family owned and operated endeavor since 1994.  Beginning as a small lumbermill catering to a few family and friends, we've grown over the years to become a specialty supplier to not only regional fine woodworkers, but also nationally recognized artists and craftsmen.  Our success over the years has been as a result of the one-on-one, personalized service we are able to provide as well as an extensive network of friends within the lumber milling community.

On any given day, our yard is bustling with activity; from a trucker stopping by, looking for new flooring for his trailer, to an individual dreaming of building his own home complete with reclaimed heart pine flooring.  The phone rings throughout the day; sometimes its a call from a flutemaker in Idaho searching for the perfect rosewood burls for his nationally renouned creations or a simply a person visiting the area who has heard about us and the personalized service we provide.

Visitors drop in on a daily basis; a Highway Patrolman stops by on his break to grab a cup of coffee and walk among the stacks of domestic and exotic lumbers we stock, or a group of woodturners come buy to admire what we have available and dream of their next project.

What makes us unique among wood suppliers is the fact that we are small enough to be able to spend the time with our customers to either find the perfect piece of wood for their projects from our existing supply, or provide custom milling services for a tree that may have been on the family property for many generations that has fallen and is ready to begin a new life as a piece of heirloom furniture.

A visit to CAG Lumber is fun, enjoyable, and most certainly an educational experience.  People enjoy talking to members of the team, sharing experiences, answering their questions, and exchanging friendly advice.  Interested in seeing how a fallen tree trunk goes from log to lumber?  Ask for Josh who will be happy to take you to the saw mill and show you the careful attention he pays when cutting a log to yield lumber of the best appearance, strength, and stability.  Looking for that perfect piece of Black Walnut for your new fireplace mantle?  Ask for Ben who can either find it from our existing stock or knows of a log waiting at the mill that will have just the right grain, appearance and character.

Browse through our online catalog to see the wide variety of domestic and exotic wood we have available.  Can't find what you are looking for?  Drop us a line or give us a call, chances are we know exactly where to find it.  Take a few minute to explore the other services we offer, from log removal to kiln drying services.

Sincerely,

CAG Lumber

Urban Forestry

Urban Forestry

Large-scale lumberyards demand uniformity within their wood processing to ensure a consistent product. However, this means that trees with distinctive formations or markings are discarded into landfills or wood chippers.  The extraordinary value of a beautiful, uniquely figured tree is lost forever.  In addition, because of the tremendous volume of wood material the large lumberyards must maintain, they must often resort to purchasing from commercial logging enterprises that clear huge tracts of centrury's-old forests.

From it's earliest beginnings, CAG Lumber has been thoroughly committed to the concepts of Urban Forestry.  There comes the time when an urban tree needs to be removed from its growing location due to insects, disease, storm damage and development. CAG Lumber recycles these trees that have been removed for those reasons and sells slabs and lumber as well as produces live edge slab lumber.

CAG Lumber does not remove trees from our local forests, but recycles logs that normally end up in our local landfills. Our stock consists of locally grown species such as Maple, Ash, Elm, Red Oak, Poplar and many others.  By further extending the life cycle of our trees and retaining the embodied energy of a wonderful natural resource, we help build communal wealth, educational opportunities and a greater appreciation for our local environment.
